Wolves Defeat South Bend Riley in Third Match of the Season The Michigan City Wolves boys tennis team picked up another strong victory on Wednesday, earning a 4-1 win over South Bend Riley in varsity play while also collecting two junior varsity singles wins. The match featured competitive play across the lineup, highlighted by several extended battles and clutch performances. At No. 1 singles, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards was dominant, posting a 6-0, 6-1 win. Jacob Hazel pushed his opponent to the wire in the night’s longest match but ultimately fell 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 in a hard-fought contest at No. 2 singles. Zach Williams showed resilience at No. 3 singles, bouncing back after dropping the second set to secure a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 victory. In doubles action, the Wolves were unstoppable. At No. 1 doubles, Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams rolled to a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win. The new pairing of Eli Green and Jaren Swindell came together for a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. The junior varsity also had a productive evening. Carson Groszek picked up an 8-3 #1 singles win. Aeden Phillips battled through a tiebreak to secure an 8-7 (7-4) victory. South Bend Riley took an 8-0 win over Finn Hendricks in singles play. In an additional mini doubles set, Riley topped Joey Stinchcomb and Trenton Vittatoe 4-2
