IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (5/11/26) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" With the school year nearing the end, now is the time to reflect on this past year's experience with your sport and analyze what you did well and what you will need to work on in the areas you deem deficient. Summertime is a great time to plan and prepare for the next school year. Most coaches and athletes will tell you that their greatest improvement came in June, July and August. Plan now what you will work on during those months. Write it down, put it somewhere so that you see it daily, and stick with it. Growth and improvement come from all the hours of work you do to gain strength, stamina, speed, and skills. It will not happen overnight, but requires that frequent, repetitive work. Yes, summertime is great for having fun and relaxing between school years, but it is a key time for you as a student-athlete to make big strides in your sport. Plan now and make sure your summer includes the work that will be crucial for you to reach your athletic goals next year! All content property of Billy Shepherd Sports
