IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (5/4/26) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" What separates you from your toughest competition when it comes to your particular sport? Whether you are competing to make the team or vying for a starting position, the competition can be very tough. In today's sporting environment, there are no secrets. You can find an instructor for almost anything. Student-athletes have lots of choices to aide in their development. Despite all of that, the one thing that I believe is most important to continue your improvement is having "fire in your belly." It is more than wanting to get better. It is more than going to practice and going through the motions. You may have great ability and opportunity-including parents and coaches who support you every step of the way and do everything they can to put you in the best situation. Have you ever asked yourself if others want your success more than you do? To truly become your best, you must find the fire for your sport or whatever activity you are involved in. That fire will drive you to do more, work harder and make sacrifices that don't seem like a sacrifice. All content property of Billy Shepherd Sports
