IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (4/5/26) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" Preparation and practice are key words if you are expecting good results in your sports endeavors. It seems too often, though, they are missing ingredients in today's world. Most athletes enjoy playing games much more than they enjoy practice. How do you find a healthy balance? Is it possible to make time and enjoy both? I have always felt that practice is more important than games if you are looking to improve your individual skills. It may not be as much fun, but if you are not willing to work on your own, when no one else is watching, you will never reach your full potential. Tennis great Roger Federer said it best, "There's no way around hard work. Embrace it. You have to put in the hours because there is always something you can improve on." In sports as well as in life, there is a correlation between hard work and success. Don't be afraid to put the time in on the things that will help you be successful in both!
